Fall Leaf Clean Up
When this…
turns to this,
…somebody’s going to have to clean it up!
A Word on Technique
Since we all quit burning leaves decades ago, many people assumed that leaves must be bagged and hauled off to landfills. But leaves fall in forests with no one to bag them up, and they decompose to provide humus, returning vital nutrients and minerals to the ground. Thick layers of leaves will smother a lawn, however, so we use our recycling lawnmowers like giant food-processors, shredding leaves into tiny particles easily digested by earth-worms and microbes. Unseen by human eyes, these citizens of the soil diligently loosen and enrich the ground, feeding the roots of your lawn for free.
